Cheree Sims Claim

Cheree spent 6 years working at an outpatient mental health clinic in Landover, MD and Southeast Washington, D.C. where she provided individual therapy from a Psychodynamic perspective utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to patients 12-75 years old, and served as the supervisor of the Community Support Services program, an in-home behavioral support program for patients 5-21 years old. From 2018-2019, she completed a year-long Pre-Doctoral Externship at Prince William Family Counseling, in Manassas, VA, where she provided individual therapy and conducted psychological assessments for patients 4-65 years old. Most recently, she spent 3 years working at RAINN, where she supervised the D.o.D. Safe Helpline, a crisis intervention and supportive service for those who have experienced sexual assault in the United States military and D.o.D. communities.

Cheree treats substance abuse, eating disorders, anxiety, and suicidality. She also does psychological assessments. She is being trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and other evidence-based practices. She is committed to creating a safe, supportive, collaborative and empowering environment for patients within the therapeutic setting.
